Main International conferences in Climatology and Meteorology in 2014-2015

As I´m a member in the Climatology Group at University of Barcelona, I participated in four international conferences in the field of Climatology and Meteorology during 2014-2015.

The first one was in Vienna, EGU, the European Geosciences Union General Assembly between 27 April and 30 May, 2014. My research was about Spatiotemporal analysis of drought on various timescales in Syria over last five decades in which we compared between two important drought indices SPI and SPEI to evaluate the spatial and temporal characteristics of drought in Syria.

The second one was the 14th EMS Annual Meeting & 10th European Conference on Applied Climatology (ECAC) | during 06 – 10 October 2014 in Prague, Czech Republic. I spoke about participation change in the Eastern Mediterranean and my research had the title “Precipitation trends and variability within the Eastern Mediterranean region for the 1961-2012 period”. In this research we used many ways and applied many statistical analyses to explain the precipitation variability in the Eastern Mediterranean which considered as a “Hot Spot” area and has big sensibility to recent climatic changes.

The third one held in Istanbul, Turkey during 2-4 February, 2015 (5^th  International Conference on Meteorology and Climatology of the Mediterranean) . Our contribution was about drought in whole Eastern Mediterranean throughout “Compression of multiple drought indices for meteorological drought monitoring in the Eastern Mediterranean” in which we used more than six meteorological drought indices to compare between them and to reach to the index which was the most suitable and reprehensive.

The last contribution was in Vienna, The EGU General Assembly 2015, European Geosciences Union 2015, 12-17 April. We shared in new research “Study of precipitation variability based on entropy and seasonality over the Eastern Mediterranean”.

The new European Meteorological Society (EMS)  Conference will be hold in Sofia, Bulgaria during 7-10 September, 2015 and we will be there for a new research.

All these conferences were funded by my PhD grant “ERASMUS MUNDUS” and my research group “CLIMATOLOGY GROUP” and supervise red by my two professors Javier Martin- Vide and Dr. Joan Albert- Lopez-Bustins by helping my supervisor in Germany Prof. Juerg Luterbacher.
